
Last time, I navigated the web for a day using a screen reader. I hope to raise the profile of difficulties faced by real people, which are avoidable if we design and develop in a way that is sympathetic to their needs. This article is part of a series in which I attempt to use the web under various constraints, representing a given demographic of user. Update: To announce the release of Internet Explorer 8, Microsoft is revisiting the best and worst of the web. You can watch the keynote session live, here. Moments ago Dean Hachamovitch, general manager of Internet Explorer, just announced the availability of the final version at the MIX 09 Day 2 keynote session. Unfortunately there is no version for Windows 7 being released today. No noticeable changes as of yet, as this release focuses on the core features and functionality of Internet Explorer 8. Upon installation I can say that the final version is a lot more stable than the Release Candidate that was released a few months ago.
